Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade Float Driver

Identifying and celebrating incredible Cast Member stories is something I’m personally very passionate about and a core attribute of a good communications professional. When I heard Magic Kingdom float driver Larry Wrobel’s dream of driving the Maleficent parade float on his 80th birthday would be coming true, I knew we had to celebrate and highlight this incredible moment with him and his family.

Disneyland Resort 60th Anniversary Million Dollar Dazzle

As the communications lead for Corporate Citizenship and the 60th Anniversary of Disneyland Resort, in partnership with many teams, we launched the Million Dollar Dazzle during a special anniversary ceremony in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle in the heart of Disneyland Park. This initiative granted $1 Million to local nonprofit organizations throughout the Southern California community and this launch would be followed up by additional story beats as $60,000 grants were awarded monthly.

NBA Experience Guide Featurette

An often overlooked element of expansion work and new product offerings is the team of Cast Members that bring the experiences to life. Cast Members like Al Elia, an opening team NBA Experience Guide with years of first-hand basketball knowledge, truly enhance a guest’s visit and sharing their stories reinforces the authenticity of the experience.

WEB DEVELOPMENT

Pushing the boundaries of online web development to better support communication initiatives.

Disneyland Resort NOW!

When challenged to come up with some new communication strategies for communicating with Cast at the Disneyland Resort, I developed and piloted a number of new tactics. The most successful new option turned into Disneyland Resort NOW!, which I managed the launch of from concept to localized pilot and full deployment. The mobile-friendly site meant to feel like an app with a more casual editorial approach was an instant hit with Cast and quickly saw strong visitation metrics. This platform ultimately led to the development of Hubsites, which uses the same backend platform.

Hubsite Development

Eager to embrace new platforms and technologies, I worked with the Communication Technology team to launch the very first Hubsite for the opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar and later expanded Hubsites to support various operating areas throughout Walt Disney World Resort.

HUB Module Development

When challenged with only being able to use existing, outdated platforms that use basic HTML, I created a number of interactive HUB modules for various Disney Parks initiatives and priorities that helped promote engagement with Cast Members. These included Disneyland Resort event modules, an interactive resort map for the opening of Shanghai Disney Resort and pages supporting crisis communication.

OTHER TECHNOLOGIES

Enhancing existing communication tactics to create efficiencies and a better user experience.

Cast TV Administation

At the Disneyland Resort, I worked with our digital teams to integrate Cast TV with OneSource so real-time information such as park hours and attraction details could be feed directly to and displayed in Cast TV system. I also worked to refine the layout and playlist system to create more flexibility in the system, enabling some local area teams to pilot using Cast TV in their areas to reduce content duplication. While our Cast TV system administrator was on leave, I took over the technical support functions during a temporary assignment.

HTML Email Coding

With knowledge of basic HTML coding, I have often taken on additional duties of coding and distributing mass emails serving as the backup for our Communication Vehicles manager. This skill often places me in high-pressure, fast paced situations involving crisis messaging – a mode of support that I personally thrive in.
